Findhorn Flower Essences was founded by Marion Leigh in 1992 and has been a family run business ever since. All of their flower essence products are made from organically grown, wild Scottish flowers, plants and trees and prepared in pure water.

The products were developed in the heart of Findhorn following the disciplines of co-creation with nature and produced in accordance with Dr. Edward Bach’s original instructions and guidelines. Findhorn Flower Essences is situated in the heart of the Foundation’s Cullerne Gardens. Many of the flowers used in preparing the essences are growing here.

What are flower essences?

Flower Essences are a homeopathic (very diluted vibrational medicine) preparation of flowers steeped in water, after which they are strained and a small amount of alcohol is added to the water for its preservative effect. Once the mother essence, as the original flower-infused water & alcohol preparation is called, has been diluted and packaged in smaller bottles with dropper lids, the remedy is taken on the tongue or in water.
Invented by English homeopath Edward Bach in the 1930s, they are remedies meant to heal emotional and spiritual, rather than physical, ailments. Of course, tending to the emotional and spiritual life can have profound effects on the physical body. Each flower's healing properties is ascertained by meditating with the plant. Bach found, for example, that the essence of honeysuckle helps "Those who live much in the past, perhaps a time of great happiness, or memories of a lost friend, or ambitions which may not come true."

Unlike Herbal Body Oils or Essential Oils, there is no discernible scent or scientifically measurable medicinal benefit to Flower Essences. Aside from the brandy or vodka, they are tasteless, any trace of the flower's physical signature long since diluted out. But it is this very dilution that is said to make the strongest medicines in homeopathic preparations. The vibrational resonance of the plant is what is working with the body, and is said to do so on a deeper, more subtle level than other forms of herbal medicine.

How to use Essences
A person selects an essence by assessing which one most closely addresses the positive qualities that they would like to encourage in themselves. Each essence has corresponding keywords which express the emotional, psychological and soul issues to be brought out and enhanced. Intuition often calls a person’s attention to particular essences. The person selecting an essence should be encouraged to read the descriptions on the label to see which essences intuitively feel right.

All our essences have a wide range of applications and there are directions for use on each product:

Essentials Oral Sprays; a few squirts may be taken under the tongue, inside the mouth, or on the acupressure points of the body.

Mists; may be sprayed freely around the aura or a localised space. They should not be consumed or applied directly onto the skin.。

Essence dosages can be reduced to half for babies and young children. Alternatively, parents can simply apply a few drops of the essence to the pulse points on the wrist, behind the knees and the soles of the feet of their young ones.

Hint…A good practice for those working with essences for themselves is to write up what is happening for them, before and after taking the essences, so they can monitor and chart their own experiences and developments.
